about

'Gaps' is the first single from The Bean Project's debut album 'Naked Trees.' The song talk about how life can be underwhelming and your expectations and reality don't always meet. Though discussing relatively depressing subject matter, 'Gaps' is an upbeat on the downbeat. Pleasure meets pain. Have a boogie while getting a noogie.

This song goes out to the burger flippers, the cold callers and the box-tickers doing it tough on the road to somewhere better.

lyrics

Holding on to what you want to keep,
So close that you can't breathe.
I apologize for what I say,
I'm trying to hide and run away oh.
Something's got you by the throat,
You can't be sure that you don't want it,
To keep the air from where you need it.
It's so much easier I know.

Holding on to who you think you need,
To keep your arms up in your sleeves,
And your head tight upon your neck,
And your heart beat-beating in your chest.
Something's got you by the throat,
You can't be sure that you don't want it,
To keep the air from where you need it.
It's so much easier I know.

Because sometimes beating ain't neat,
I'm needing something more.
Surely this aint it.
I'm getting tired of all that,
Breaking my back just to follow in the tracks.
Oh this aint living,
I'm dying to get it over with.

Holding on to who you think you need,
To keep those arms up in those sleeves,
And your head ti-ti-tight upon your neck,
And your heart beat-beating in your chest.
Something's got you by the throat,
You can't be sure that you don't want it,
To keep the air from where you need it.
It's so much easier I know.

Because sometimes beating ain't neat,
I'm needing something more.
Surely this aint it.
I'm getting tired of all that,
Breaking my back just to follow in the tracks.
Oh this aint living,
I'm dying to get it over with.

Because sometimes beating ain't neat,
I'm needing something more.
Surely this aint it.
I'm getting tired of all that,
Breaking my back just to follow in the tracks.
Oh this aint living,
I'm dying to get it over with.
